The Arrivedo startup is the first platform for hotel recommendations that gives hoteliers a voice and allows them to organize their own local guides (through local travel writers) so that hosts can compete with sites like Airbnb that attract travelers looking for a local experience.
The platform was founded in San Francisco by two entrepreneurs from Peru; Alonso Franco (founder of Hostel Pariwana) and Rodrigo López (extensive experience in digital products in Silicon Valley). They also have an office in Mexico.
The process consists of the hotel making an offer to the writer to build this guide with places, maps, lists, photos, routes, tours, etc., about the best thing to do around the hotel. Normally, hotels offer a fixed amount or nights accommodation as exchange and only payment to the writer. Then, the hotel can distribute the content of the guide in its own channels, through a group of tools that Arrivedo facilitates.
For now, the use of it is free for all hotels that are interested in publishing a local guide to the area. In total, they have more than 600 hotels in 100 cities around the world, publishing their guides in Arrivedo in less than a year and a half.
"Several cities in Argentina were pioneers in the use of the platform. In total, they publish 30 hotels in Argentina distributed in Buenos Aires (22). Mendoza (3), Córdoba (2), El Calafate (2) and Bariloche (1). It is undoubtedly one of our main countries with a fairly rapid growth considering the short time of the product online.
Argentina represents 5% of the total number of hotels that currently publish and is among the early adopters in usability.
"During 2018 the goal is to grow the travel writer community to 5,000 users in North America, Latin America, and Europe. Also, quintuple the number of hotels publishing guides in these regions and grow from 100 thousand to 1 million, the number of travelers who use the content to plan what to do, before and during their trip during 2018," they said from Arrivedo.
